Hyper-V rolling cluster upgrade

Hello,

We have two Hyper-V custers (Windows Server 2012 R2), each with 6 nodes that are using ScaleOut File Server (Windows Server 2012 R2) as the storage location for the VMs. We also have some in-guest clusters that are using shared VHDX. All cluster nodes (physical and virtual) are currently running on Windows Server 2012R2. We would like to upgrade the physical servers toWindows Server 2016 using the rolling cluster upgrade. As the clusters will be upgraded one by one, this means that for the in-guest clusters, one VM will run on Windows Server 2012 R2 and the second cluster node will run on Windows Server 2016, while the shared disk is being used. Has anyone had a similar scenario? Do the virtual clusters run even if the Hyper-V cluster hosts are in mixed mode?

Thank you in advance.
