Windows cluster residing on virutal host cluster; do I need to add APIPA address space to virtual network?

I'm planning to configure a 2 node cluster where both nodes will be virtual machines hosted on a cluster of virtual hosts. Do I need to configure the virtual host cluster to be aware of the APIPA address of the 2 nodes? Years ago, you would manually assign the heartbeat addresses on each node and ensure they could communicate.  But best practices documents for 2012 clustering state to leave the heartbeat adapter alone.  But without any modifications I'm sure the APIPA addresses won't be able to reach each other in the given virtual environment.
